Software to connect to Snorkel.
Snorkel can be accessed in more than one way. The most common way is for
users to connect in via the Internet. However dialup access is also
available.
Over the Internet you can connect using Telnet or Secure Shell, commonly
known as SSH. SSH is the prefered connection method, as connections are
encrypted. Telnet connections are in the clear and can thus be evesdropped
upon. Please do not use telnet for general connections. We have provided
SSH software here if you need it.
For dialup access, you need a terminal program. The Telnet/SSH client we
have provided for Windows is also capable of talking to a modem and thus
dialing in. Another option is to use HyperTerm which is included with
Windows.
- PuTTY (Installer) - An SSH/Telnet client (Supports SSHv2, fullscreen and many other cool features).
- PuTTY (Binary) - An SSH/Telnet client (Supports SSHv2, fullscreen and many other cool features).
- Tera Term Pro - A terminal program both telnet and dialup capable.
- Tera Term SSH Patch - Patches Tera Term to make SSH connections (Requires an unzip program).
- Better Telnet (FAT) - A Macintosh telnet client (M68K/PPC).
- MacSSH (M68K) - A rewrite of Better Telnet to include SSH support.
- MacSSH (PPC) - A rewrite of Better Telnet to include SSH support.
- MindTerm - An SSH client written entirely in Java.
Under UNIX, telnet is a part of the system and can be used from the command
prompt. Some UNIX systems don't have SSH included, however you can get SSH
from www.openssh.org.
For SSH on other systems, check out www.freessh.org.
If you need help with the included software or client software not
included here, or if you are simply having general problems with connecting
to Snorkel, please contact us.
